Hub2 Controller
The Gemstone Lights Hub2
Controller
Gemstone Lights® Hub2 is the hub in your control box that stores your timers and patterns and talks to the app. It comes with every new system we install in North Atlanta, and it is the upgrade path for homes on the original Hub.
What it does
The Box That Runs the Show
Every Gemstone Lights system has a controller, mounted in a small weatherproof control box near an outlet, the first light and your WiFi. It sends data out to the lights, keeps your timers and patterns on board, and connects to your phone over WiFi, Ethernet or Bluetooth. Because the timers live on the controller, your schedule keeps running when your phone is off or out of town.
Hub2 replaced the original Hub with new hardware, new software and a new app built on a fresh framework. The headline changes are capacity and connection: it handles four times the lights of the first Hub, holds far more timers, and connects faster and more securely.
You rarely think about the Gemstone Lights hub once it is in. Day to day you use the Gemstone Lights app, and the hub quietly does what the app asks.

Upgrading From Hub1 to Hub2
If your system went in before 2024, it probably runs on the original Hub. Your lights are compatible with Hub2. In some homes the switch needs a small wiring change, which is straightforward for the dealer.
The upgrade itself is a swap inside your control box: the dealer takes out the Hub1, fits the Hub2, connects your phone to the new Gemstone Lights app and the lights, and walks you through it. The original Hub app does not work with Hub2, so you move over to the new app at the same time. Every premade pattern from Hub1 is in the new library.
Hub1 is still supported if you would rather keep it; Hub2 adds new patterns on top of the Hub1 library. Pricing depends on your system, so send us a Hub2 upgrade request and we will get back to you.

Bigger homes
Built for Long Rooflines
Four data outputs give the installer more ways to wire a house. On a two-story home with stacked gables, a long ranch, or a roofline that wraps a three-car garage, that flexibility keeps the layout simple and the runs tidy.
With room for up to 4,096 lights on one controller, large homes and commercial buildings need fewer workarounds. Gemstone says installs on big houses are simpler and faster with Hub2.
It matters most on bigger projects such as whole-home roofline lighting and commercial track lights on storefronts and offices.
Better Voice Control With Hub2
Hub2 brought a reworked Alexa and Google Home connection, with more reliable links and better voice commands.

Yes, existing systems are compatible. Some need a minor wiring change during the swap, which the dealer takes care of. Our service page explains what happens next.
Not with Hub2. The Hub2 controller and the Gemstone Lights app are built on a new framework, and the original Hub app is not compatible. If you keep your Hub1, it stays supported, but it no longer receives updates.
It depends on your system and whether any wiring needs to change, so there is no single price. Tell us about your setup through a service request and we will quote it.
Over WiFi on either the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz band, or over a wired Ethernet connection. Bluetooth gives your phone a direct link when you are nearby, though WiFi is the more secure option.
No. Hub2 includes every premade pattern from Hub1 plus many new ones, and your folders and patterns sync to your account in the cloud from then on.
