Holiday Lighting

Permanent Christmas Lights
for North Atlanta Homes

Permanent Christmas lights go up once and stay. Gemstone Lights® Atlanta fits them into a color-matched track along your roofline, so every December starts with a tap in the app instead of a weekend on the ladder.

How it works

Hung Once, Lit Every December

Permanent Christmas lights are LED lights set into a slim aluminum track that runs along the edge of your roof. The track is matched to your soffit and fascia, so in daylight it reads as part of the trim. After dark, every light can show any color, and the whole display runs from the Gemstone Lights app on your phone.

For most families around Atlanta the appeal is simple. Nobody climbs onto a second-story roof in late November, nobody untangles last year's strings on the driveway, and nobody spends a cold January afternoon taking it all down. You pick a look, set a schedule, and the house lights itself through New Year's Day.

The same lights cover Halloween, the 4th of July and a plain warm white on ordinary nights. Holiday lighting walks through the rest of the calendar, and Residential Track Lights explains how the track and controller are built.

  • Track color-matched to your trim
  • More than 14,000 premade patterns
  • Sunset-to-sunrise schedules

Look one

Red and White Christmas Lights

Red and white is the candy-cane look, and it suits almost any house. Alternate the two colors light by light for a crisp stripe, or run red along the eaves and white up the gables so the shape of the roof stands out from the street.

Because each light is individually addressable, the spacing is yours to choose. Two red and one white gives a warmer, bolder line; one and one feels more traditional. Add a slow Chase animation and the stripes drift around the house without looking busy.

Look two

Warm White Christmas Lights

If you like the look of old incandescent strings, start with warm white. Every Gemstone light has its own warm-white LED, set between 2800K and 3000K, so the glow comes out soft and golden instead of the bluish white you get when red, green and blue are mixed together.

Warm white is also the setting most homeowners keep for the other eleven months. It flatters brick, stacked stone and painted siding, and you can dim it anywhere from full brightness to a faint glow from the app.

The difference is explained in more detail on Warm White & RGBW.

Look three

Multicolor, Old-School and New

Multicolor is the classic family look: red, green, blue and gold repeating around the house. You can keep it still, which reads like a string of big C9 bulbs, or let the colors move with the Glitter, Sway or Starry animations in the app.

With more than 16 million colors on tap you are not stuck with someone else's idea of green. Match a wreath, match the front door, or pull up one of the premade Christmas folders and try a different pattern every night until you find the one the kids vote for.

HOA friendly

Out of Sight in Daylight

Clip-on strings hang below the gutter line all season, and in daylight they look like what they are. Permanent lights sit inside a low-profile track tucked under the roof edge, finished in one of more than 150 soffit and fascia colors. From the sidewalk at noon most people simply see trim.

That matters in the many North Atlanta neighborhoods with a homeowners association. We can't speak for any particular HOA, so check your own guidelines on exterior lighting, but a system that is invisible by day and on a timer by night is usually an easy conversation with an architectural review committee.

See how the track is shaped and colored on the hidden track section.

Roofs and gutters

What Happens to Your Roof and Gutters

The track fastens to the soffit, not the shingles. One edge slides under the L-shaped trim of the fascia and the other is held with a color-matched screw, so nothing is pushed under roofing or clipped onto your gutters each fall.

It works on wood or aluminum soffit and fascia, and your installer picks the track profile that suits the trim you have. The controller lives in a small weatherproof control box near an outlet, the first light and your WiFi. Most installations can be finished in as little as one day, depending on the size of the home.

The other option

Permanent Lights vs Hiring a Crew Every Year

Many homeowners already pay a seasonal installer to hang lights in November and come back to take them down in January. It solves the ladder problem for one season. Then the same visit, the same fee and the same storage question come round again the next year.

A permanent system is a bigger decision up front and a smaller one every year after. Here is how the two compare in practice.

Seasonal hang-and-remove service Gemstone Lights permanent system
Visits each year Two: hang and take down None once installed
Ladder work at your house Every season Once, at installation
Colors and patterns Whatever was hung that year Any color, changed from your phone
Halloween, July 4th, game days No Yes
Daytime look Strings and clips on show Track matched to your trim
Schedules and Autopilot Plug-in timer, if any Yes
Ongoing cost pattern A fee every season One install; each light draws at most 1 W

Seasonal services vary; ask any installer what their price includes. Each Gemstone light draws at most 1 watt, at full bright white.

Getting started

From Quote to First Night

  1. Step 1: Free quote

Tell us about your home. We look at the rooflines, measure the runs you want lit and work out where the controller will go.

  2. Step 2: Track and color

Pick a track color to match your soffit and fascia. Your installer chooses the profile that fits your trim.

Light the way on Christmas Eve

Send a slow chase across the roofline toward the front door, a runway for Santa and for any late guests.

Selling your home

The warranty can be transferred once, within the 10-year warranty period, to a new homeowner who contacts Gemstone Lights directly within 90 days of taking possession of the home.
